WHO IS JOY VILLA? PRESIDENT TRUMP SAYS HE'S A FAN OF THE SINGER WHO MAY RUN FOR CONGRESS
BY BEATRICE DUPUY ON 10/27/17 AT 11:13 AM

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Friday to welcome to politics a 26-year-old entertainer who made a political statement earlier this year with her “Make America Great Again” dress at the Grammys.

“She has many fans,” the president tweeted.

Villa responded by thanking the president and calling him her "ultimate warrior."

During a Friday appearance on Fox & Friends, Villa announced a possible run for Congress and attacked some leading female Democrats, including Representatives Frederica Wilson and Maxine Waters and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, saying they “are destroying this country.” Wilson and Waters are African-American, and all three women have been attacking Trump.

“It's time we have strong women who step up, run, win and support the president of America,” Villa said during her Fox interview. She has described herself as an “Afro-Latina Native woman married to an immigrant.”

When asked about the platform on which she would run, Villa told host Ainsley Earhardt she would follow the populist ideas put together by former Trump adviser Stephen Bannon. She plans to support tax reform and aid for legal immigrants, as opposed to illegal immigrants.

Villa caught the attention of the president after she appeared at the Grammys in a red, white and blue dress emblazoned with Trump's slogan in February. Her eye-catching dress also got her noticed by Trump supporters, who helped boost the singer’s sales on iTunes and land her album, I Make the Static, on the Billboard Top 15 chart.

Danny Masterson Is the Latest Hollywood Star to Face Rape Allegations

At least four women have shared their stories with Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.

Allegations are stacking up against Danny Masterson, the former star of That ‘70s Show and longtime member of the Church of Scientology. The actor has been accused of rape by four women, according to HuffPost, three of whom were also Scientologists. The Los Angeles Police Department began investigating the claims in 2016, but the case against Masterson has curiously stalled, despite the existence of “compelling evidence,” per HuffPost. However, the current post-Harvey Weinstein temperature has apparently lit a fire under it once more.

According to Tony Ortega, a journalist who covers the Church of Scientology, the women who have accused Masterson of rape were interviewed for the docu-series Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath—but the episode was shelved amid concerns that it would interfere with the L.A.P.D. investigation. However, now that numerous Hollywood stars and other powerful men have come under fire for sexual-misconduct allegations, questions are rising again about how the Masterson claims will be handled—and what the docu-series will do with the episode it kept off the air.

According to HuffPost, all four women allege that Masterson raped them in the early 2000s. One of the women filed a police report in 2004, claiming that the actor raped her in 2003 while she was “passed out.” When she regained consciousness, she says, she struggled with Masterson until he allegedly choked her and she passed out again.

After she filed the report, the Church of Scientology reportedly submitted 50 affidavits from Scientologists denying the woman’s claims. As HuffPost notes, reporting a fellow Scientologist to law enforcement officials is not just frowned upon—it’s grounds for expulsion from the organization. The case file later “vanished,” according to reporter Yashar Ali.

The L.A.P.D. began interviewing the four women in 2016. “Despite compelling—what one law enforcement source described as ‘overwhelming’—evidence, the charges have not been approved for filing,” Ali notes. The evidence reportedly includes “audiotapes, e-mails sent to and from Scientology officers at the time the alleged rapes happened, forensic computer evidence, and a threatening handwritten letter Masterson sent to one of the alleged victims.”

Representatives for Masterson have not yet responded to Vanity Fair’s request for comment. He is being represented by attorney Marty Singer, the high-profile lawyer who’s previously handled legal issues for Bill Cosby. Singer is also currently representing embattled director Brett Ratner, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by numerous women.

According to Tony Ortega, it’s still unclear how A&E will handle the reportedly shelved episode featuring the Masterson accusers. The series is an explosive look at Scientology, highlighting the ways in which members and former members have been manipulated by the Church, so these allegations seem to fall right in its purview.

According to Ortega, Remini and co-star Mike Rinder met with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office earlier this year to discuss the sensitive nature of the episode. “Remini, not wanting to jeopardize the investigation, asked A&E not to air the episode, and the network agreed,” he wrote.

The series is currently in its second season and only has three more episodes left this year. Representatives for Remini have not yet responded to V.F.’s request for comment.

Bush 41 calls Trump a 'blowhard'; White House strikes back
By Javier De Diego and Jamie Gangel, CNN
Updated 3:21 PM ET, Sat November 4, 2017

(CNN)The White House has struck back at both Bush presidents Saturday after the two made stinging comments about President Donald Trump in a new book about the father and son.

"If one presidential candidate can disassemble a political party, it speaks volumes about how strong a legacy its past two presidents really had," a White House official told CNN. "And that begins with the Iraq war, one of the greatest foreign policy mistakes in American history."

"President Trump remains focused on keeping his promises to the American people by bringing back jobs, promoting an 'America First' foreign policy and standing up for the forgotten men and women of our great county," the official said.

Former President George H.W. Bush delivered a blunt assessment of Trump in historian Mark Updegrove's new book, titled "The Last Republicans," saying, "He's a blowhard." And former President George W. Bush also had harsh words for his Republican successor: "This guy doesn't know what it means to be president."

    ........

In the end, neither Bush voted for their party's nominee. George H.W. Bush confirmed that he voted for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. George W. Bush told Updegrove he left the top of the ballot blank.

"I voted 'None of the Above' for president, and Republican down ballot in 2016," he said.

He went on to say that concern with the former secretary of state's judgment kept him from following his father's lead.

The latest issue of Newsweek slams the Donald Trump administration as “the most corrupt in U.S. history” with a bold cover referencing the 2006 Samuel L. Jackson film “Snakes on a Plane.”

The cover depicts administration officials straddling a “government air” plane as Trump throws cash in the air. The cover story itself, written by Alexander Nazaryan, highlights the expenses of cabinet members using government planes.

The story goes on to highlight how the administration’s behavior runs counter to the “drain the swamp” campaign slogan that drew so much praise prior to the election.

Trump Thinks Scientology Should Have Tax Exemption Revoked, Longtime Aide Says
Lynne Patton told an actress the Trump family “couldn’t agree more” that the church shouldn’t be exempt.

Remini is a successful television actress who starred on the CBS hit sitcom “King of Queens” for nine years. She is also a former longtime member of the Church of Scientology. Since she left the church in 2013, she has dedicated most of her time to exposing abuses she and other members have faced. In 2016, A&E aired a docu-series about the church that Remini starred in and produced, called “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.” In it, Remini, along with a former top church official Mike Rinder, uses interviews and documentary evidence to try to document abuses perpetrated by church leadership. The first season of the docu-series won an Emmy Award, and the second season is currently airing.

In late May 2017, Patton tweeted at Remini and asked her to direct message her. Remini followed up on May 30 and said in a direct message, “Hi Lynne would love any help you can give.”

Patton responded on the same day and said:

“From The moment I saw your series I told President Trump & his family we needed to revoke their tax exempt status. They couldn’t agree more, but please don’t publicize that yet. I want to do more due diligence on what the IRS has attempted in the past (or maybe you can enlighten me), then I’ll identify who we need to connect with again.”
